Field Trips

Bring your school classes, homeschool groups, scout troops, or other groups of any age out to

Calusa Nature Center and Planetarium for a field trip!

We offer a highly customizable field trip experience for all age levels, from Pre-K to Adult, featuring:

  • Guided nature walks tailored to grade-appropriate topics and interests

  • Full-dome planetarium, featuring shows from NASA, ESA, the European Southern Observatory and the International Planetarium Society as well as live stargazing presentations

  • Space museum with a large collection of meteorites

  • Live animal show with opportunities to interact with native and invasive animals

  • Enclosed butterfly garden with native wildflowers

  • Birds of Prey Aviary with bald eagles, hawks, owls, and more

  • Large collection of reptiles including two full grown alligators, rattlesnakes, and a crocodile

  • Nature museum with fossils and artifacts

Field trips are available Monday-Saturday during normal operating hours (normally running from 10:00am-1:00pm) and must be booked at least 2 weeks in advance. Minimum group size: 10 participants (not counting chaperones). Large (80+) groups may need to be split over multiple days.

IMPORTANT: Planetarium closed for repairs November 8th-30th 2021. Private live animal shows resume January 2022.

COVID-19 Policy: CNCP strongly recommends that all non-vaccinated individuals wear appropriate face masks when indoors or when social distancing cannot be maintained.
