Inspiring People to Connect with Nature
Bring your school classes, homeschool groups, scout troops, or other groups out to Calusa Nature Center and Planetarium for a field trip.
We offer a highly customizable field trip experience for all age levels, featuring:
Guided nature walks tailored to grade-appropriate topics and interests
Full-dome planetarium, featuring shows from NASA, ESA, the European Southern Observatories and the International Planetarium Society as well as live stargazing presentations
Space museum with a large collection of meteorites
Live animal show with opportunities to interact with native and invasive animals
Enclosed butterfly garden with native wildflowers
Aviary featuring owls and a bald eagle
Large collection of reptiles including two full grown alligators, rattlesnakes, and a crocodile
Nature museum with fossils and artifacts
Cost is $5 per student, teachers/group leaders are free, additional adult chaperones $8. Field trips are available Monday-Saturday during normal operating hours and must be booked in advance.
Our current COVID-19 policy is that facemasks must be worn inside all buildings, so please make sure your students and chaperones have masks. Visitors without masks will not be able to attend any indoor portions of the field trip, including the planetarium show. Thank you for your understanding.
Scouting astronomy badge programs are available for Boy Scout and Girl Scouts at $10 per scout (more badges coming soon!)
