What do a bunny, a possum, a raccoon and a fox have in common? They are all mammals! Come and learn what makes a mammal a mammal while visiting some of ours here at the nature center. You will get up close and personal with some of Calusa’s mammals and participate in a craft. Parents need not stay with child during program. Free with regular admission. Have you ever wondered what happens to a caterpillar while inside its chrysalis? What happens to a tadpoles tail as it turns into a frog? Come sit in Calusa’s classroom and learn about the different stages of butterflies and frogs lives as we dive into their different life stages. This will include hands-on interaction with some of our frogs and toads, a visit to our butterfly aviary, and a craft! Parents need not stay with child during program. Free with regular admission. What causes a caterpillar to morph into a butterfly? How does a tadpole grow legs and lose its tail to morph into a frog? Come learn all about metamorphosis and the insects and amphibians that are capable of doing it. Meet some of Calusa’s animals that have this amazing adaption up close with hands-on interaction and complete an educational craft! Parents need not stay with child during program. Learn why you should shut the water off while brushing your teeth and turn off the lights when you leave the room. Saving our planet starts with us and you will learn valuable “how to” tips as well as interact with some of the animals you are helping.Come learn how much energy you really conserve when you recycle a can, and make a craft to help celebrate this month’s Earth Day.
